BOOKSHELF: BOOKS FOR BABIES
The best reads for burgeoning bookworms
Books and stories open the window to a child’s imagination, and it’s never too early to start building Baby’s first library to encourage a love of reading. Whatever kind of day you’ve had, the magical quiet time just before bed with its hushed tones, cuddles and a well chosen story is the ideal wind-down. It’s also a special bonding time between parent and child.
Here, in the first of our regular Bookshelf feature, we’ve selected our favourite, tried-and-tested stories that little ones will love to ‘read’ (ie, eat or attempt to pull apart). Some are well-known classics that just don’t age, like Peepo; others, like The Very Busy Spider, are sometimes overlooked – you might already have its more famous cousin The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
From touchy-feely, lift-the-flap andbath books,to chunky board books that are perfect for little fingers. And we had to include our personal picks from popular ranges such as the That’s Not My… or If I Were A… So, are we sitting comfortably? Then let us begin.
