Stylish silhouettes and quirky prints for the girls
When designer and mother Emma Prigmore began sewing garments for her three children, she soon started getting commissions from discerning mothers. Before long, Lucypeachslice was born. Named in honour of her beloved childhood pet, the brand introduced an innovative, UK-based range of girls’ clothing and accessories, launching in 2013.
But it’s not just the stylish silhouettes and bold prints we like, as each garment has its own tale behind it (and we do love a backstory). With Emma finding inspiration not just from travel overseas but from domestic day-to-day items and architectural details all around her, she manages to transform personal snaps into beautiful prints to create unique, eye-catching designs.
The creative process starts right here in the UK, then the clothing is manufactured in India, meeting the Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) certification. Causing a stir early on, Lucypeachslice was honoured by the Junior Design Awards in 2014 for Best Emerging Fashion Brand, and we have to admit we’ve had our eye on them.
‘Women want the option to coordinate their outfits with their daughters’ without looking exactly alike’
The new collection for SS16 is called Plaza, introducing a new print inspired by photographs Emma took inside New York’s iconic hotel. Excitingly, as well as a new-season print, the line includes three new womenswear pieces. ‘Women want the option to coordinate their outfits with their daughters’ without looking exactly alike,’ says Emma. ‘Our tunics and tops for women in our signature print work on their own, too.’ Which means if, like us, your Mini Me generally ends up better dressed than you, now there’s a chance to style it out together for a change (without going all matchy-matchy, which would just be tragic).
