BRANDS WE LOVE: OLIVIER BABY AND KIDS
Beautiful knits and Liberty prints
This charming family-run British brand isn’t just a Fussy Favourite, but also has the Royal seal of approval, with Princess Charlotte photographed wearing one of their cardigans for her first birthday (you can shop the look here). Think vintage-inspired childrenswear with a modern twist, thanks to a range that combines nostalgic designs, such as a classic round-neck cardigan, with quirky features like the lightning-bolt detail bobble hats.
Their clothing and accessories are practical and comfortable (not an itchy woollen in sight), while remaining fun and whimsical, to reflect the carefree childhood days the owners, sisters Emma and Alice, shared together.
Emma Davison and Alice Smith are two mums who know their woollens. The brand was launched in November 2011, with Emma knitting all the samples herself, and as a team they design the pieces and put together the collections. What we love is that all the samples are rigorously tested by their five children for wearability.
And while there is a serious nod to nostalgia, the collections couldn’t be further away from the scratchy woollies of yesteryear. Their knitwear is 100% cashmere and super-soft (seriously, they are like velvet, we defy you not to keep stroking them). Which means each piece feels as good as it looks. What’s more, it doesn’t stop at covetable knitwear. Alongside the cardies and jumpers sit classic cotton Liberty-print dresses, playsuits, shirts, shorts and tops in chambray and muted tones, with prints ranging from ditsy florals and checks to an adorable ‘Little Treasures’ design that includes bicycles, rocking horses and boats.
And then there are the cutest bloomers and baby bonnets we have ever seen, and the little skirts with braces… It’s hard to know where to begin (or more like where to stop) shopping. We’re also a little bit in love with the boys’ shirt with the ‘Queue At The Zoo’ animal print.
They also have a range of super-duper cute accessories, including blankets, bonnets, mittens and booties, which make the ideal gifts for newborns or christenings. Hand-knitted in Bulgaria by a small team who use the traditional two-needle method, each item is an individually made one-off to be treasured and handed down (totally justifying your full-to-bursting shopping cart, no?).
To be utterly enchanted by the full range, visit olivierbaby.com. We defy you not to want one of everything. In several styles.

Introducing Outside the Lines - the new girlswear label you need to know about
Say hello to WIld and Gorgeous, the new name for ilovegorgeous.
We fell in love with the distinctive monochrome masterpieces from design brand HAM when we first spotted them at Dot to Dot London, mentally planning on framing a collection of the fun, simplistic greetings cards for our kids' rooms. Mentioning this to the designer, Joanna Ham, we spotted the twinkle in her eye and she promised us something exciting was actually on its way for the children's market - and now here it is!
