Sock it to them!
Run your super-bright socks off for a fantastic cause
Tomorrow sees the very first Happy Socks x Happy Days 5k charity run, to coincide with National Running Day. Happy Days is a children’s charity that provides short breaks and day trips to some of the most vulnerable children in the UK, and you can support the cause alongside Happy Socks, the folk who turned an everyday accessory into a colourful, joy-inducing wardrobe essential.
The run takes place at 7.30am on Wednesday 3 June from the Happy Socks Seven Dials store in London’s Covent Garden. You can also pick up a pair of Happy Socks from the new spring/summer 2015 Athletic range, with a 30% discount until the end of tomorrow. The Athletic socks, £14 a pair, have been created with light compression, arch support and a cushioned sole to make them more comfortable for the active wearer. All proceeds will go to the Happy Days charity.
A small £3 donation per runner will be donated to Happy Days, and places will be picked by a ballot (email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details). But even if you haven’t got a place, head along to support the runners and snap up some Happy Socks while you’re there and you’ll still be doing some good.
I will be donning my own running socks for charity on Monday 8 June with a 10K event. It mixes our sporty theme with the wondrous woodland of Westonbirt Arborteum. Not that I’ll have chance to appreciate the trees as I
race shuffle along thinking why for the love of Cornish cream teas I didn’t train more.
Wish me luck. See you at the finish line.
